Latitude - Vapor Line 8mm Tether
First, they are the same diameter and weight, just as supple and easy to pack, but have improved UV and abrasion resistance and dry out faster after a rainy hunt. Second, they proved to be ~10% stronger than Oplux in our 3rd party testing. Lastly, hitch cords are much easier to adjust without sacrificing safety.
Why did Latitude develop the VAPOR LINE ropes to replace their Sterling Oplux tethers and lineman belts?
We enjoyed using Oplux ropes for many years but wanted more durability and water resistance from our ropes. We had experienced premature wear of the exterior sheath used on Oplux due to the wear and tear of constant contact with tree bark and wanted a rope that dried out faster after a rainy day. After looking for alternatives, we decided the best option was to develop our own and make them right here in the USA to maintain the utmost quality and performance possible for the hunting community.
What is the difference between the VAPOR LINE Tether and Lineman Belt?
The only two differences are color and the lineman belt comes with 2 carabiners instead of 1. They are different colors to help you stay organized in the field.
Can I use the Ropeman 1 with the VAPOR LINE 8mm ropes?
No. We suggest using the Kong Duck device if you choose to add a mechanical ascender to these ropes. An Oval Carabiner is also needed if switching to a Kong Duck.
What are the advantages of 8mm ropes vs larger options?
Our 8mm ropes are half the size and weight of standard 11mm options, but due to the materials used they are just as strong. In short, 8mm ropes minimize weight and bulk within your system and are easier to get in and out of dump pouches.
